PREMIER WALL EXPRESSES CONDOLENCES TO FAMILY OF FALLEN SASKATCHEWAN SOLDIER

Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall today expressed his sincere condolences to the family and friends of Corporal Dustin Wasden.

Corporal Wasden was born in Prince Albert, grew up on the family farm near Leoville, and attended school in Spiritwood.

Wasden was one of three combat engineers with 12 Field Squadron, 1 Combat Engineer Regiment, killed when their vehicle struck an improvised explosive device.

"Once again, we are reminded of the sacrifices being made by young Canadian men and women, as they fight to secure democracy for the people of Afghanistan," Wall said.

"Tami and I will join the people of Saskatchewan as we hold Corporal Wasden, his wife and his young daughter in our thoughts and prayers.

"We also pray for the full recovery of a fourth soldier in the same convoy, who was seriously wounded in this attack."

In honour of Corporal Wasden's supreme sacrifice, flags at the Saskatchewan Legislature will be flown at half-mast until after his funeral.
