News Release - September 1, 2000 BAN ON OPEN FIRES LIFTED
Because of some rainfall and cooler weather, the ban on open fires in the
Centre Block of the Cypress Hills Provincial Park has been lifted. Weather conditions have changed enough to warrant lifting the ban, however, further warm dry weather will cause the hazards to rise quickly. Anyone lighting open fires in the area is asked to exercise caution. Due to dryer conditions along the Alberta border the ban on open fires, as well as road restrictions, remain in effect for the West Block of Cypress Hills Provincial Park. Burning permits are required in and within 4.5 kilometres of provincial forests. Free burning permits and information on safe burning practices are available from any Saskatchewan Environment and Resource Management district office. -30- For more information, contact: Rick Goett Environment and Resource Management Maple Creek Phone: (306) 662-5416 |
