KEESEEKOOSE GROUP HOME REOPENS

Social Services Minister Donna Harpauer today announced Wi Ci Ti Zon (Keeseekoose) Group Home is reopening and will be accepting children by the end of the month.

Representatives of the Keeseekoose First Nation and the Group Home have worked diligently to address the areas of concern. Specific actions were requested to address ongoing care and treatment of children at Keeseekoose. Requests for staff training, increased supervision of the children and a monitoring role for the Ministry have been addressed.

"We appreciate the dedication of everyone involved in working toward reopening the facility," Harpauer said.

The Group Home developed operating procedures that meet provincial standards and have provided them in writing. Keeseekoose also established a policy to guarantee the rights of children by allowing the Children's Advocate access to children at the Group Home.
