News Release - October 23, 2010 SASKATCHEWAN PROCLAIMS RESERVE FORCES DAYToday Provincial Military Liaison D.F. (Yogi) Huyghebaert proclaimed October 23, 2010, as Reserve Forces Day in Saskatchewan, to formally recognize the contributions of our everyday citizens who voluntarily devote their time to military service. "I hope this proclamation serves as a reminder to everyone in Saskatchewan of the contributions made by our reservists, who increase the quality of our military forces," Huyghebaert said. "The men and women who make up our reserve forces play a pivotal role not only in Canada's peacekeeping efforts around the globe but in relief operations across the country." In Canada, reservists have responded to shorter-term domestic emergencies such as floods and forest fires, and they have assisted with search and rescue missions and relief operations. Internationally, they have served on Canadian Forces missions in the Middle East, Cyprus, Bosnia, Haiti, Africa and Afghanistan. -30- For more information, contact:
