ST. PETER'S COLLEGE RECEIVES INFRASTRUCTURE INVESTMENT

As part of a $26.4 million investment in Saskatchewan's advanced education system, St. Peter's College is receiving a major renovation.

"St. Peter's provides an important opportunity for young people to begin their post-secondary instruction in a unique, intimate setting," Advanced Education, Employment and Labour Minister Rob Norris said. "This investment will help to ensure that the College is able to meet the needs of learners in the region well into the future."

When combined with college's ongoing fundraising efforts, this investment will help St. Peter's to proceed with much-needed building improvements. Planned work includes:

• electrical and mechanical system upgrades;
• environmental systems upgrades;
• improvements to accessibility and provision of service; and
• work to ensure the ongoing integrity of the building.

"This investment achieves two important goals," Norris said. "It helps us to address our ongoing talent challenge by enhancing our ability to educate young Saskatchewan people, and it creates new opportunities and new economic activity for the region."

Norris said that the government will continue to work to build a seamless path among education, jobs and careers, and that creating an even stronger post-secondary system is a key milestone on that path.
