News Release - June 17, 2010 CITY OF SASKATOON FINED $10,500The City of Saskatoon has pleaded guilty to one charge under Saskatchewan's Occupational Health and Safety regulations and been fined a total of $10,500. The City pleaded guilty to contravening sections 263(1) and 260(2)(a) of the regulations for failure to ensure workers were protected from cave-ins of sliding material in a trench. The municipality was fined $7,500 plus a $3,000 victim fine surcharge. An additional charge against the city was stayed in court. The charges arose after an Occupational Health Officer conducted a routine inspection of a worksite in Saskatoon in early September, 2008.
