News Release - November 22, 2004 YOUTH EXPLORE AGRICULTURE CAREERS AT AGRIBITION
Saskatchewan youth can learn about a multitude of careers in the agriculture and food industry during the new Career Expo at the 2004 Canadian Western Agribition.
"Agriculture is an industry that holds great promise for the future of Saskatchewan, and Western Canada," Premier Lorne Calvert said. "It is an ever-evolving, ever-changing sector, one that offers many exciting career opportunities for young people, our leaders of tomorrow. I applaud Agribition for organizing this expo." "Careers in agriculture are much different now than they were years ago," Agriculture and Food Minister Mark Wartman said. "As the agriculture sector grows and diversifies, so do the careers that support it. The Career Expo is an excellent opportunity for Saskatchewan students to understand how careers have changed, and think about how they can contribute to the provincial labour market and our agriculture industry." Wartman said the expo will expose students to virtually all of the career opportunities in the agriculture and food sector, so that they have a broad picture of the industry. "We are focusing on opportunities in sciences; business and finance; animal and plant production; trades; the environment; and communications and technology. We also want students to be aware of the different types of agricultural training that are available in Saskatchewan." The Career Expo seminars run daily from 9:00 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. with lunch, speakers, trade shows and career exploration activities. Over 600 students have registered. Registrations are available from the Canadian Western Agribition at (306) 565-0565. -30- For More Information, Contact:
