SASKTEL PRESIDENT NAMED

Premier Lorne Calvert announced today the appointment of Robert Watson as President and CEO of SaskTel, effective December 1st, 2004.

"Mr. Watson brings to this key role vast experience and extensive success in the communications industry in Canada," Calvert said. "I am pleased that we have been able to recruit someone of this high calibre to continue to lead SaskTel in the highly competitive communications environment."

Mr. Watson has held several executive positions in companies from President Shaw Fiberlink, President Shaw Mobilecomm, and President WIC Connexus with Shaw Communications to more recently President GT Fiberlink, Executive Vice President Customer Operations and Carrier Sales, and Vice President Business Development with GT Group Telecom/360 Networks.

The CEO search committee was led by Reg Bird, Chair of SaskTel's Board of Directors, and comprised of members of the SaskTel Board of Directors and the President of CIC.

"With Mr. Watson's years of experience and success at executive levels at various communications companies, we are confident that he is an excellent choice to lead SaskTel in the highly technical, rapidly changing and competitive communications industry," Bird said.

"The SaskTel Board of Directors would also like to thank Don Ching who has led SaskTel through many business evolutions over the past eight years, and has been instrumental in the company's success and healthy financial position," Bird said.
