HONOURING SASKATCHEWAN'S PROTECTIVE SERVICES PERSONNEL

Corrections, Public Safety and Policing Minister D.F. (Yogi) Huyghebaert on behalf of the Provincial Secretary Donna Harpauer joined Lieutenant Governor Gordon Barnhart to present 18 recipients with the Saskatchewan Protective Services Medal in Prince Albert today. The medal recognizes individuals who have 25 years or more of exemplary service protecting the people of Saskatchewan or their property. This can be in either a volunteer or a full-time capacity.

"In our immense province, with a rapidly growing population spread out across a diverse landscape, from our remote northern communities to our large urban centres, working within the field of the protective services is no simple task," Huyghebaert said. "Yet, day after day, these individuals make it look easy and it is my honour to celebrate their achievements today."

Established in 2003, the Saskatchewan Protective Services Medal is administered by the Saskatchewan Protocol Office in close co-operation with the Saskatchewan Association of Chiefs of Police, Saskatchewan Firefighters Association and other agencies whose personnel are eligible for the honour.
