ALCOHOL BAN IN PARK CAMPGROUNDS DURING THE MAY LONG WEEKEND
Saskatchewan provincial parks will enforce a ban on all alcohol in parks and recreation site campgrounds for the May long weekend.
"Park visitors want to enjoy themselves in a peaceful environment," Tourism, Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Christine Tell said. "Our primary concern is to ensure the safety of park visitors, staff and peace officers."
The alcohol ban will be in effect from 12 p.m. Thursday, May 14 to 11 p.m. Monday, May 18 inclusive. The ban pertains to campgrounds within provincial parks and recreation sites, and the Kipabiskau and St. Brieux Regional Parks.
Cottages and commercial businesses in provincial parks will not be affected by the ban.
This ban was first introduced in 2006 and has been an effective tool in eliminating excessive partying, substance abuse, vandalism, disorderly conduct and general disrespect for other people's rights and property.
