News Release - May 29, 2008 STRONG ECONOMY BENEFITS SASKATCHEWAN PEOPLESaskatchewan people are earning more and experiencing a higher quality of life as a result of the strong economy. "Our new government has a vision of a strong and prosperous province that is a confident leader within Canada," Advanced Education, Employment and Labour Minister Rob Norris said. "Every day we work to sustain our economic momentum and make life better for the people of Saskatchewan." The average earnings of a payroll employee in Saskatchewan is $752.11 per week. This is an increase of 5.6 per cent compared to March 2007, well above the national average of 3.2 per cent. "Our government is on the right track, growing the new Saskatchewan," Norris said. "People in our province have increasing opportunities to make a living and build bright futures." Month over month, Saskatchewan experienced a 0.8 per cent increase in employment earnings, reflecting a trend experienced throughout western Canada.
