PREMIER CALVERT PRESENTS CENTENNIAL MEDAL TO TOM AND ALISON JACKSON

Premier Lorne Calvert will present the Saskatchewan Centennial Medal on behalf of Lieutenant Governor Lynda Haverstock to Tom and Alison Jackson at the Singing for Supper Christmas musical in North Battleford this evening.

The Medal recognizes the important role that individuals have played in the development of communities in the province.

Recipients are selected based on the recommendation of governmental and non-governmental organizations and Members of the Legislative Assembly. Community leaders, MLAs, MPs and judges also receive the medal.

"The Jacksons are exemplary people who have done a lot for Saskatchewan," Calvert said. "In particular, they have given so much of themselves through their efforts to end hunger. The Medal provides us with an opportunity to celebrate them and thank them for their many contributions."

In addition to being an accomplished musician and actor, Tom Jackson is also an Order of Canada recipient.

Approximately 4,000 Saskatchewan Centennial Medals will be presented at ceremonies held throughout the province.
