HONOURING SASKATCHEWAN'S PROTECTIVE SERVICES PERSONNEL

Lieutenant Governor Gordon Barnhart and Corrections, Public Safety and Policing Minister D.F. (Yogi) Huyghebaert presented the Saskatchewan Protective Services Medal to 25 recipients at Government House in Regina this morning. The medal recognizes individuals who have 25 years or more of exemplary service protecting the people of Saskatchewan or their property. This can be in either a volunteer or a full-time capacity.

"The people we are here to honour today have invested more than a quarter-century of their lives making Saskatchewan a better, safer place to live," Huyghebaert said. "We owe them a debt of gratitude, not only for the work they have done, but the example they have set in their communities."

Established in 2003, the Saskatchewan Protective Services Medal is administered by the Saskatchewan Protocol Office in close co-operation with the Saskatchewan Association of Chiefs of Police, Saskatchewan Firefighters Association and other agencies whose personnel are eligible for the honour.
