UPGRADES TO THREE SASKATOON AREA SCHOOLS

The Government of Saskatchewan is investing an estimated $434,000 to improve three schools in the Saskatoon area.

“Support for these school improvement projects demonstrate our continued commitment to work with school divisions to provide healthy, comfortable and well equipped learning environments for Saskatchewan students,” Learning Minister Deb Higgins said.  “We are investing in schools, in students and in the future of Saskatchewan.”

The capital improvement projects include:

  • $400,000 to the Saskatoon School Division for final payment for an addition and renovation to North Park Wilson School;
  • $28,000 to the Greater Saskatoon Catholic School Division for roofing upgrades to Bishop Klein School; and
  • $6,000 to the Greater Saskatoon Catholic School Division for roofing upgrades to St. Peter School.

The projects announced today are part of the Government of Saskatchewan’s investment of approximately $6 million to improve the learning environment in 40 Saskatchewan schools.  These include improvements such as roof replacement and restoration, mechanical system upgrades, renovations, additions and portable classrooms, as well as preliminary planning funding.  Funding for these projects will be cost-shared with school divisions across the province.

“These school improvement projects are part of the government’s commitment to make Saskatchewan the best place for young people to live, work and build strong futures,” Higgins said.
