Premier Lorne Calvert today announced a shift in cabinet responsibilities.
"Eric Cline will move from his position as Finance Minister to take on the portfolios of Justice and Industry and Resources," Calvert said. "Jim Melenchuk, in turn, will leave the Learning portfolio to become Finance Minister." Saskatoon Eastview MLA Judy Junor becomes the new Minister of Learning, while Eldon Lautermilch takes on the dual responsibilities of Intergovernmental Affairs and Aboriginal Affairs. Government Relations Minister Ron Osika will assume additional responsibilities as Minister responsible for Saskatchewan Property Management Corporation (SPMC). SPMC was previously the responsibility of Corrections and Public Safety Minister Andrew Thomson, who will continue to oversee the Information Technology Office. "Over the next few weeks the new cabinet, along with their caucus colleagues, will set the course for the upcoming legislative session and finalize a budget," Calvert said.
