GLOBAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP WEEK PROCLAIMED

The Government of Saskatchewan has proclaimed November 14 to 20 as Global Entrepreneurship Week to recognize and inspire young people in the province to embrace innovation, imagination and creativity through entrepreneurship.

"Entrepreneurs are people who take risks and put in long hours to create new businesses and opportunities," Enterprise Minister Jeremy Harrison said. "We want to encourage more entrepreneurship from our young people as they have new and innovative ideas that will create jobs, investment and economic development. The end result is a Saskatchewan that is better for everyone."

Through local, national, and global activities Global Entrepreneurship Week works to inspire people to explore their potential as self-starters and innovators. These activities, ranging from large-scale competitions and events to intimate networking gatherings, connect participants to potential collaborators, mentors and even investors, introducing them to new possibilities and exciting opportunities.

"As the official host of Global Entrepreneurship Week in Canada, we at Canadian Youth Business Foundation (CYBF) are so pleased that the Government of Saskatchewan is recognizing the impact of the entrepreneurs in our communities who create and sustain our province's long-term economic prosperity," CYBF Director for Saskatchewan Taunya Woods Richardson said. "This important global movement allows us to continue to work alongside key decision-makers to champion entrepreneurship and cultivate the next generation of entrepreneurs in Saskatchewan."

CYBF will be leading the Saskatchewan celebrations of Global Entrepreneurship Week to inspire Saskatchewan young people to embrace entrepreneurship. It, alongside other entrepreneurial and business organizations, will hold events and activities during the week to celebrate the success of entrepreneurs and inspire more people to follow their passion and choose entrepreneurship as a career.

The Government of Saskatchewan proclaimed 2011 to be the Year of the Entrepreneur.
