SASKJOBS.CA REACHES RECORD POPULARITY IN 2010

More job seekers than ever are exploring career opportunities on Saskatchewan's largest job search website, www.saskjobs.ca.

The site hosted a record 8.9 million visits in 2010 while posting more than 111,000 jobs from employers across the province. All told, 8,750 more jobs were posted to the site in 2010 as compared to 2009, an increase of 8.5 per cent.

"SaskJobs.ca is a valuable hub for Saskatchewan employers and job seekers from across Canada and around the world," Advanced Education, Employment and Immigration Minister Rob Norris said. "In the past year, the site has gained real momentum as Saskatchewan businesses continue to create and post jobs, and workers seize those opportunities. Many of these opportunities helped fuel the private sector, up 17,500 jobs from last year."

To cap a strong 2010, the month of December saw 8,264 jobs posted to the site - a 33 per cent increase over the same month in 2009. More than two-thirds of those were full-time positions. December also saw almost 650,000 visits to SaskJobs.ca, a 24 per cent year-over-year jump.

"With more than 6,100 vacancies today on SaskJobs.ca, opportunities are available in every corner of the province," Norris said.
