News Release - February 5, 2008 NO CHARGES IN ALLEGED NDP CAUCUS FRAUDFollowing a complaint in May 2007, allegations of a 1992 fraud against a former employee of the NDP Caucus office and others associated with the party were investigated by the RCMP. In October 2007, the results of that investigation were forwarded to Alberta Justice to determine whether charges were appropriate and, if so, to conduct a prosecution. The Public Prosecutions branch of Alberta Justice has now completed its review of the investigation and has decided that the case did not meet the prosecutorial standard and they will not be proceeding with charges against any of the parties involved. -30- For more information, contact: Candace Cook |
