HONOURING SASKATCHEWAN’S PROTECTIVE SERVICES PERSONNEL

Lieutenant Governor Gordon Barnhart presented the Saskatchewan Protective Services Medal to 24 recipients today in Prince Albert.

The medal recognizes individuals who have 25 years or more of exemplary service protecting the people of Saskatchewan or their property. This can be in either a volunteer or a full-time capacity.

The list of today's recipients includes firefighters, police officers, corrections workers, conservation officers and emergency medical responders.

"The men and women receiving this honour today deserve to be commended for their years spent protecting Saskatchewan people and property," Corrections, Public Safety and Policing Minister D.F (Yogi) Huyghebaert said. "We are fortunate to have benefited from their dedication to making our province a better, safer place to live."

Established in 2003, the Saskatchewan Protective Services Medal is administered by the Saskatchewan Protocol Office in close co-operation with the Saskatchewan Association of Chiefs of Police, Saskatchewan Firefighters Association and other agencies whose personnel are eligible for the honour.
