News Release - January 7, 2008 2007 LIBRARY EDUCATION BURSARY AWARDEDKendra Bender from Melville is the successful recipient of the 2007 Library Education Bursary. The annual $5,000 bursary offers funding to a student enrolled or accepted in a Master of Library and Information Science (MLS) program, or equivalent, who will live and work in Saskatchewan for at least two years after graduating. "I want to congratulate Kendra and applaud young people like her who return to Saskatchewan to build their careers and our province's economy," Education Minister Ken Krawetz said. "I encourage other students to apply for the 2008 bursary and to apply their skills to grow our province's knowledge based economy." "I am so pleased and grateful to be the 2007 recipient of the Saskatchewan Library Education Bursary," Bender said. "I would like to extend my thanks to the Multitype Library Board, the Saskatchewan Library Association, Saskatchewan Provincial Library and the Ministry of Education for providing such generous funding to library students." Though Bender is enjoying her studies at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, she is looking forward to coming home to Saskatchewan. "I can't wait to return to my home province to begin my career as a library and information professional," Bender said.
