News Release - June 26, 2008 CHILDREN’S DRUG PLAN COVERAGE BEGINS JULY 1Saskatchewan families with children 14 and under are reminded that the new Children's Drug Plan starts Tuesday, July 1. The Children's Drug Plan will ensure families will pay only $15 for their children's prescriptions listed on the Saskatchewan Formulary and those approved under Exception Drug Status. This plan will cover an additional 110,000 beneficiaries. "The Government of Saskatchewan is keeping the promise of improved drug coverage for Saskatchewan's children," Health Minister Don McMorris. "The health and safety of our province's children is of primary importance to this government, and affordable access to necessary medication is key." There is no application required for the new Children's Drug Plan. Children 14 and under will receive their eligible prescriptions for $15 automatically when filled at the pharmacy starting July 1. July 1 is also the effective date of the new Seniors' Drug Plan. Under the new program, eligible seniors must apply to receive their formulary prescriptions for $15. All seniors who have had their coverage approved have received a confirmation of coverage in the mail.
