DALMENY HIGH SCHOOL OPENS NEW ADDITION AND RENOVATED SPACE

Dalmeny students, teachers, alumni and other special guests gathered at the Dalmeny High School today to celebrate the completion of a $2.8 million expansion and renovation. Saskatchewan Learning contributed $1.6 million to the project, with the balance coming from the Saskatoon (West) School Division.

"This government's goal is to ensure all students receive a high-quality education and that they receive the supports required to succeed in school and in life," Learning Minister Andrew Thomson said. "Capital projects such as this help us achieve excellence in our education system."

The project included construction of a new gymnasium as well as renovations to classrooms and the existing gymnasium to provide performing and visual arts space.

"The Saskatoon (West) School Division is extremely proud and excited about this new gymnasium and renovation at Dalmeny High School," Board Chair Bernie Howe said. "On behalf of the division board we want to congratulate Dalmeny High School and the Dalmeny community for this facility which will serve students in the Dalmeny area and the whole school division for many years. The educational needs of students in Dalmeny will continue to be met through the improvements in this facility. On behalf of the board, I want to extend our thanks and appreciation to the Minister of Learning and the Government of Saskatchewan for their participation in this exciting project."

"This new facility will go a long way toward helping Dalmeny's youth reach their potential," Thomson said. "When we invest in capital projects for education, we are investing in our children and youth and in the future of Saskatchewan.
