MELVILLE SCHOOL RECEIVES FUNDING FOR FINAL PHASE OF RENOVATIONS

Students who attend Davison School in Melville will soon be learning in newly-renovated surroundings. The Government of Saskatchewan today approved approximately $800,000 in funding for the fourth and final phase of renovations to Davison School.

"Davison School has served students well for many years," Government Relations Minister and Melville MLA Ron Osika said on behalf of Learning Minister Judy Junor. "However, to keep pace with the everchanging needs of students and teachers, the time has come to provide a more modern education facility. This four-phase project clearly demonstrates our government's success in assisting school divisions with the development of long-term facility plans."

With the completion of the four-phase renovations, enhancements to the K-6 school will include a new school entrance, five relocatable classrooms, a new stage, space for performing arts, a resource room, an improved administration area and heating, ventilation and air conditioning upgrades.

"School capital projects are a priority for this government," Osika said. "We are committed to ensuring all Saskatchewan students have a modern, well-equipped learning environment. Above all else, our government is focused on meeting the learning needs of all young people in the province. Investment in education is key to a prosperous future for our children and our province."
