News Release - February 3, 2006 CENTENNIAL MEDALS PRESENTED IN WHITEWOOD
Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan Myron Kowalsky on behalf of Lieutenant Governor Lynda Haverstock will present the Saskatchewan Centennial Medal to recipients in Whitewood on Saturday.
The Medal recognizes the important role that individuals have played in the development of communities in the province. "The Saskatchewan Centennial Medal honours our citizens for their outstanding contributions," Kowalski said. "We can take great pride in the extraordinary people who call Saskatchewan home." Recipients are selected based on the recommendation of governmental and non-governmental organizations and Members of the Legislative Assembly. Community leaders, MLAs, MPs and judges also receive the medal. "Our provincial motto 'from many peoples strength' is shown in people working together in small towns, cities and communities," Provincial Secretary Joan Beatty said. "The Medal provides us with an opportunity to celebrate people and thank them for their many contributions." Approximately 4,200 Saskatchewan Centennial Medals are being presented at ceremonies held throughout the province. -30- For More Information, Contact:
