News Release - March 4, 2004 NEW JUDGE FOR YORKTON
Ross Gordon Green, Q.C. has been appointed a judge of the Provincial Court for Yorkton.
"Judge Green's extensive knowledge of restorative justice, youth justice and Aboriginal justice will serve him well in his new role as a Provincial Court judge," Justice Minister Frank Quennell said. Judge Green was called to the bar in 1986, and since 1988 he has been a staff lawyer with the Saskatchewan Legal Aid Commission in Prince Albert and Melfort. Judge Green holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree as well as a Bachelor of Laws and Master of Laws. He is the author of "Justice in Aboriginal Communities: Sentencing Alternatives" and co-author of "Tough on Kids: Rethinking Approaches to Youth Justice", which earned the 2003 Saskatchewan Book Award in Scholarly Writing. In 2001, Judge Green was named as a "Leading Edge" in the world of restorative justice by Prison Fellowship International.
