Highways and Transportation Minister Judy Bradley today announced 18.8
km of paving projects on Highway Nos. 4, 13, and 32. "Collectively, the department is spending $1.9 million on these three projects," Bradley said. "The projects are expected to start in mid May and are planned for completion in mid September. An estimated 31 jobs will be used in completing the projects." C.D. Botkin Construction Ltd. was awarded the contract for the paving project as the lowest of five bidders. The paving project on Highway No. 4 will be done on 5.0 km south of Junction 43. The paving project on Highway No. 13 will be done on 8.7 km west of Eastend. The paving project on Highway No. 32 will be done on 5.1 km through the community of Abbey. The $1.9 million project cost includes department supplied materials and services. "A $15 million increase in the department's budget this year means a very busy construction season and crews will be working hard to improve and repair Saskatchewan roads and highway," Bradley said. "The increased funding demonstrates our commitment to preserving our investment in Saskatchewan's highway system." -30- For more information contact: Les Bell Director of Engineering Projects Highways and Transportation Regina 306 787-0825 |
