PROVINCIAL INVESTMENTS IN CAPITAL PROJECTS IMPROVING QUALITY OF LIFE IN EAST CENTRAL SASKATCHEWAN

In its ongoing commitment to make life better for families and create a bright future for young people, the Government of Saskatchewan has recently invested close to $9.9 million for capital projects in East Central Saskatchewan.

"Through the hard work of the people of this province, Saskatchewan's economy is booming like never before and residents in the east central area are benefiting directly from these efforts," Government Relations Minister Harry Van Mulligen said during a visit to Yorkton. "We have been able to provide funding for a variety of capital projects that will enhance the quality of life for people living in the area, improve upon the business climate and give people even more reason to live, work and build their future in Saskatchewan."

In addition to enhancing digital cellular and wireless service to the area, projects that have received funding include $7.5 million over five years to surface a portion of Highway 310; approximately $240,000 to install re-locatable classrooms at Balcarres School; and $500,000 to improve the water system in the Yorkton Queen Street Water Treatment Plant.

"Our government's investment in these important developments will enhance the vibrancy of the communities in this area," Van Mulligen said. "This year's infrastructure budget is the largest ever. By investing in our highways, cultural and recreational facilities, health care systems and municipal infrastructure, we are ensuring that communities province-wide are in a position to capitalize on the many opportunities being created by Saskatchewan's growing economy."
