MUSEUM CENTENNIAL VIGNETTES BEING PRODUCED

Television vignettes are being produced on the Royal Saskatchewan Museum (RSM) to promote and celebrate its 100th anniversary this year.

Culture, Youth and Recreation is providing $100,000 to the Saskatchewan Communications Network (SCN) for production of the television programming, which should be ready to air by broadcasters in the coming months.

The vignettes will focus on the museum's past, present and future, and will be modeled after programs like "Heritage Minutes" and "Hinterland Who's Who".

"The Government of Saskatchewan congratulates the Royal Saskatchewan Museum on 100 years of service, which is a significant achievement for a museum," Culture, Youth and Recreation Minister Glenn Hagel said. "These commemorative vignettes are another way the museum will continue to provide the citizens of Saskatchewan and visitors to our province with a better understanding of our natural and cultural history."

In addition to the production of the vignettes, the RSM is commemorating its 100th birthday with several new exhibits and special events. For example, RSM Week is July 15th-22nd; the museum will be holding a parade and anniversary celebration on July 16th.
