Because of extreme fire hazards, the Ministry of Environment has placed a ban on open fires in all burning permit areas in or within 4.5 kilometres of provincial forests, including provincial parks, north of Highway #3 from the Alberta border to the Manitoba border.

Two hunters from the Biggar area were fined a total of $7,580 in Rosetown Provincial Court for illegally chasing wildlife and discharging a firearm from a vehicle.

To reduce the risk of Dutch elm disease, pruning of elm trees is prohibited throughout Saskatchewan each year from April 1 until August 31.
